you don’t have time for weekly therapy sessions or are on a strict timeline
Benefits of Choosing an Intensive Format
-
The concentrated time allows for deeper processing of emotional and psychological blocks.
-
Clients often experience significant shifts after just one session, helping to break free from patterns of stuckness.
-
As you process emotional wounds, you’ll build greater resilience and self-awareness, helping you move through challenges with more ease.
-
The deep, intensive work you do during these sessions creates lasting shifts in your mental and emotional health, leading to positive, lasting changes in your life.
-
By focusing on deep rooted trauma, you can start to heal from the things that have held you back or kept you frozen for years. It’s not just a bandaid fix, it’s a ‘let’s break it down and build it back up’ experience.
What to Expect In Your Intensive Experience
-
Each intensive is tailored to your specific history, needs, and goals; with an emphasis on culturally sensitive and trauma-informed approaches to ensure your comfort and safety.
-
I understand and know the sensitive nature of complex and oppression-based trauma (even reading it here may bring it some feelings). My goal is to work WITH you at YOUR pace. Your nervous system guides us. The goal is to work in collaboration with your system and you so we can create and maintain a space where you are seen, heard, understood, and supported.
-
With Brainspotting and EMDR, we’ll use proven and science backed techniques that access and process traumatic memories on the cellular level. This way you can leave with lasting emotional relief.
-
Complex trauma requires addressing multiple layers of pain. These intensives allow us to dig deeper and work through the difficult emotional material in a focused, efficient, and effective way.
-
Society is changing — however not quick enough for us to experience relief from the stressors that oppression put on us. Intensives with me focus on the emotional wounds caused by these systems and the destruction on our souls and bodies. We lean into reclaiming and strengthening your power, consent, and hope.
How do I know what’s better for me, Brainspotting or EMDR?
Brainspotting allows you to access the deeper experiences stored in your brain through "brainspots"—specific eye positions that correlate with emotional experiences—aiding in the processing and release of the pain associated to your experience.
EMDR uses bilateral stimulation (like eye movements, buzzers, tapping) to help the brain reprocess layered traumatic memories, reducing their emotional charge, and allowing for new insights, adaptive beliefs, and healing to emerge.
VS
We collaboratively decide which modality to use during our intake. Brainspotting was founded and developed from EMDR, so there is a lot of overlap. I have seen certain experiences work better with one over the other, yet your personality, capacity, and previous healing work can also inform which modality you may respond better too. Ultimately, I will provide you with as much background of the two and as this experience is YOU centered, we will honor the one that calls to you.
Some folks have tried one already and seek out the other, some know one modality works better for them and we go with it- the whole process is collaborative.
Like a Netflix Binge for Your Emotions
Just like binge-watching a favorite series to dive deep into the story and get through all the twists and turns, a therapy intensive lets you immerse yourself in your emotional healing. It’s a deep, focused experience that helps you work through everything quickly and thoroughly, so you can move forward with a clearer, refreshed perspective— without the long wait.

Intensive FAQs
-
I have found having longer sessions to go deeper produce quicker and longer lasting results in my clients. Some people may not have time for weekly sessions due to work schedules, child care, and more. I typically also schedule intensives for Friday/Saturdays so it allows people to come in on days that are relatively less packed.
In some ways, intensives can also be more cost efficient in the long run. Since intensives are focused on specific issues and goals discussed during the intake, intensives provide a container of sort to work on the specific intention set. Typically in weekly sessions we also catch up on things that may have occurred since the last session which take up time in the already shorted weekly time structure.

I am an out of network provider as a trauma therapist. Meaning I can always provide superbills for you to submit to your insurance. With Intensives, there may be a chance to receive partial reimbursement depending on your out of network benefits. I encourage you to contact your insurance to find out the details, and we can always talk it through during our consult call or pre-intensive intake session.

No! While I have a niche in anti-oppression healing, I have a lot of success with all types of issues. Depression, anxiety, relationship issues, performance issues, and more are all goals and presenting issues that work well for an intensive.
-
In order to participate in intensives, you have to be in the state I carry my license (California, Virginia, Washington). Some folks have opted to travel into Los Angeles to attend intensives in-person. Otherwise have made a weekend trip to go stay with a friend or family who may reside in a state I'm licensed to participate in virtual intensives.

I offer both! My physical office is located in Santa Monica, CA for those desiring an in-person experience. Fun fact: my office is a few blocks away from the Santa Monica Pier. Lots of current and previous clients have used a small trip to the beach for fresh air and reflection after sessions.

We’ll go over this in the free consultation. Length and need often depend on your goals and intentions for the healing space. Those with complex trauma may require multi day sessions, while some may only require half day intensives. Here is a break down of what is included in the costs:
deposit: $400
pre intensive two hour intake: covered by deposit
each 90 minute intensive block: $250
60 minute follow up session: $200
The deposit fee is based off of my base fee for therapy which is $200/hour, as well as the 60 minute follow up session.
I offer 3 hour intensives for a rate of $500. This fee is based off of my baseline fee with a discount of $100 for the intensive format. I personally break it up into 90 minute increments as I have found a need to rest and reset for both clients and I at that point. Some clients opt to go the full 3 hours, which we also do.
-
Then we discuss and take the course of action best and accessible for you. Some folks only have 1 day available but find 3 hours isn’t enough. In those cases we can always do 4, 5, 6… hours as well. We discuss and consider these logistics during both consult and intake calls.
-
I am here to answer any questions you have! I truly believe in intensive formats and have witnessed the transformation and sense of clarity clients leave with and express during our follow up. I want to help you get there and experience that, and I believe we all have the capacity to do just that.
